Hmm… I can’t figure out why it was that I looked at the distance between Dallas and Nashville, saw 691 miles and thought .. ok.. should get there and back on two tanks of gas. I think I just glitched on the whole.. that’s the distance THERE, not round trip.:P So… filled up the gas tank at $3.92 or somesuch. 13 gallon tank. 320 miles or so later… still have gas in the tank. I’ll do the actual figuring later when we fill up at $3.89 around the corner. The Rondo apparently DOES get its upper end gas mileage on the open road and there is a lot of OPEN boring road on I30.

I’m going to Nashville for my brother-in-law’s wedding. Kim’s already there. She’s been there since last weekend, so we also pick her up. (Next time we do this in September, we leave at NOON, not 5PM.) Amazingly… I didn’t forget anything. I do need batteries for my camera. (Got free QuickTrip insulated mugs at QT)

I’ve managed to do some work while riding as well, got everything cleaned up, but I realize that some updates will be delayed next week. I turned in NeverNever laaate last night. We got into Little Rock around 12, tracked down the hotel easy enough. I have made a mental note … one star means, do not stay here. šŸ˜€ Nothing really wrong with it, other than it was very, very old and well… beds didn’t have fitted sheets and it was kinda patched together in some places and things were broken and never repaired in others.

Friday, we traveled the rest of the way to my sister in law’s. Got to see a semi truck that had somehow managed to turn itself SIDEWAYS in the median all the way across it. That was our only slowdown for the entire trip.

Got to our hotel room, found out that unlike Dallas.. you can’t find a movie playing every thirty minutes SOMEWHERE. šŸ˜€ So no Incredible Hulk. That was our only opportunity to see it, so we ate at a very yummy mall food court and had the best Gyros ever. They actually gave us MEAT! Nowhere around Flower Mound/Lewisville do the places that serve Gyros here give you more than a strip or two. šŸ˜›

Worked for about an hour of our downtime before going and enjoying a family dinner.

Saturday was fun. We drove an hour and a half to the wedding site with Kim and saw lots of interesting things… such as the Amish stores and a few Amish sitting in a horseless buggy in front of one store at Lawrenceburg. We did see one cart.

Once we got to the wedding, we wandered around for a few minutes prior to it looking at the ‘quaint’ little stores. And you know, I grew up in a ‘quaint’ little town smaller than this one and we never had the small town charm like this one had. Complete with old fashioned drug stores and an interesting and odd pioneer museum with lots of touch and feel items and a handfull of elder gentlemen who I almost feel used it more as an excuse to have a place to sit and talk than run a museum. šŸ˜‰

Wedding was nice. I do have pictures.

Went back to the hotel to setup for dinner, ate a yummy dinner and enjoyed some fruited tea. šŸ˜€ Then.. crashed, because Sunday was the drive home.

Sunday was pretty uneventful. We left at 8:15 AM from Franklin, TN, got home in Flower Mound, TX at 11:30 PM. Made lots of stops for Kim mostly … and a small jaunt to the War Store in Memphis where my husband received his Father’s Day gift.

Roadkill. Lots and lots of animals perish on the side of that heavily traveled four lane highway. Coyotes, turtles, rabbits, cats, dogs, armadillos, raccoons … and a mountain lion. Yes. I saw a mountain lion laying on the side of the road as we were leaving Tennessee. 0.o Poor mountain lion.

Got home to some very ecstatic pets. Merle even meowed at me once after making the effort to come out from wherever she was hiding after we were home for twenty minutes. šŸ˜€
