Early news this week .. why?

Kim had a visit with a new doctor today, a gastrointerologist, to see if her strange digestive issues are signs of anything further. That was six hours, preparation, getting there, waiting, discussing Kim’s symptoms and then the possible treatments. When Kim was born, her esophagus did not connect to her stomach. It had to be surgically connected at three days old, which can cause problems in the future … like a narrowing of the esophagus as it enters the stomach, plus, it doesn’t work normally to begin with because it’s been operated on. She also has a Nissin (SP?), which was done to prevent acid reflux … and vomiting. :D They wrap the top of the stomach AROUND the base of the esophagus. Yes, I have a child who cannot throw up. :D

Step 1 – We’re going in on Friday for her to be scoped. They’re going to put her under for a few minutes to get a good look at her esophagus and stomach, check for scarring, damage, ulcers, etc and take biopsies of tissues.
That will likely take another four or five hours out of my Friday work. I’d rather miss a few updates than put this off, since possible eventualities are difficulty swallowing and she really needs to eat. :D

Step 2 – Either medicate Kim or (hopefully not) a surgery to correct any problem that is found.

So that’s the news, I’m working on comics now and will get as much done as I can, but this has put a serious crimp on the things I planned to do. :(
