It had started to rain. Just a small storm, but lightning arced brilliantly across the sky. They weren’t supposed to be outside of the house, but they’d snuck out when the babysitter was busy entertaining her boyfriend. Blake had been over to play for the afternoon.

He remembered. He’d felt sorry for the little girl. She’d walked in the rain, knowing where they were going. There were a few old abandoned buildings a few blocks away. An old school that had long since been closed down and a huge library. The shelves were mostly empty now, except for a few scattered books that had been considered too damaged to take to the new school.

Blake could even recall hearing the little girl’s voice echoing through the building. “Blake… Diana?”
