August 2010 Charm Selection – Revised

August 19th, 2010 | by admin

My second round of charms! This one is made off of the new images of Dash and Swiftpaw from Alien Dice. They were also made to have color variants of each one for larger laminated tags. I have the tags to and will likely post them up for sale when I get batteries for my camera! The Dash ones were done for the Year of the Tiger as well. I have a bunch of tigers. :D

PLEASE! If you ARE interested in ordering one and have to wait a week or two or three – POST a comment. If I don’t know you want one and nobody says anything, then I take it as nobody wants one.

Each charm is roughly 1.5 inches in size. They will be printed on 1/16″ white acrylic and laser cut. For extra gloss and protection, all of the charms have a layer of lamination on top. Order quickly to get the one you want, because I may remove and change charms that are not ordered after a week or two. And the sooner I have enough to make the order, the sooner the order goes in. The order will go in on September 18th at the latest. Then it will take about a month for me to get them. Please watch for notices on the main sites and if there was a problem with the prior order, please let me know. (I’m shipping this week.)

Now for the scale of donation, since I’m offering options with these and they DO include shipping in the US, please add a dollar if shipping outside the US.

1.5 inch Charm
Just the charm (comes with a double ring for attaching to things.): $6
Keychain or Cellphone Strapped Charm: $7

Other options if you ask, such as earrings. And if you have big fingers and can’t put the ring into the charm, let me know and I’ll do it. :D I learned from the first time that the nice metal rings I use will break some charms when mailed (the Swiftpaw one last time) and do cost a little more to ship. This time I’m just going to put in the pieces to avoid damage to the charms. This bunch doesn’t have the design flaw the first Swiftpaw did, but I really don’t like shipping them with a piece that causes stress to the charm when going through a machine. Otherwise, they did hold up fine. Swiftpaw had a bigger ring and that’s what caused them to break in the mail.

Amounts INCLUDE shipping within the US, Canada and Mexico. Outside the US, please add $1. Be SURE your paypal shipping information IS correct! You can use any of the paypal/chip in buttons on the sites. If you want to send payment via check/cash/money order, please post a note in the comments so I know to expect it and send it to:

Open for Commissions Again

September 1st, 2010 | by admin

Current Tally:  $100 of $300

I have to make around $300 between now and September 9th to make up for a huge shortfall in advertising revenue. I have no other choices because while I’ve been putting everything into getting as many items as possible up for sale; there have been no sales. I would rather put my time into the comics, but putting my time in them hoping that things will turn around is really stressing me out to a point that it’s starting to affect my health.

So, I am open for commissions. You’re free to commission me to work on comics as well, I just need to make that money as soon as possible so I can get back to work without it hanging over my head. When I’ve raised the money, then I can get back to comics.

Digital full figure with simple background – $25 – Give me your details, all of them, and I will create a piece based on your description and you will get a full colored digital copy at a 9 x 12 size. (600 DPI, so it can be blown up to 18 x 22 if you like.) It’s cheap because you won’t get pencils to look over or a hard copy as it will be pretty much all digital.

I am open to doing other art projects, you will have to ask for a quote, but I will not be doing any large copic pieces. :D   I don’t have the right paper to undertake them.

The second item I am offering is a 4 x 5 inch character badge.  You will get to approve pencils on this one.  The price is $35, which includes shipping in the US/Mexico/Canada.  They come with a ring and a clip and laminated in nice hard heat melted laminate.  THESE will be a combination of watercolor and copic markers and look really nice.  I can work from photographs if you want a personalized look AND I have examples of a couple of pieces I did.  They requested a few additions.  A little note on the kitty girl … her kimono isn’t an exact match because I was working off the lcd screen on my camera and couldn’t see the details. :D   For future convention badges, I’ll be using my tablet so I can SEE such things.  You can see the shine on her hair in this photo!

These were my first attempts at such badges and I really enjoyed doing them!

All of these will be done before I get back to work on other things, because I want them done and out of the way. :D   I don’t like things hanging over me waiting to be done and I already have one person who has a bunch of commissions I’m very slowly working on.  (Whose commissions I’m also working on right now.)

Please use the CONTACT button at the top of the page.  This goes to my ACTUAL email address that I check frequently.  All other email addresses are so full of spam I can barely wade through them and often miss important things.

Site News

As you can see… the majority of the sites – ALL the comic sites – have been transferred to a new server and fresh new installs of WordPress 3.0 running the latest Comicpress – which is running VERY nicely.  I’ve spent the last week giving myself a crash course in CSS and have built a set of TEMPORARY themes just to look ‘ok’ until I have the time to really start redoing themes.   Funny thing is … I had INTENDED to make a set of themes to use for the sites  – then I started realizing all the neat things I could do with CSS and background images. :D   In the process .. I figured out a bunch of things I haven’t implemented.  These themes only make use of 2 image files, so they’re very light.  Which is good for our new server.  So.. I’m finally done and can resume comics next week.. as well as .. a NEW comic this fall that I’ll give you more details on once I discuss it with the author.

The Gates (And I HATE ABC) (3 Comments)

July 7th, 2010 | by tiffany ross
Posted In: Reviews

Several weeks ago, ABC premiered their new Sunday night lineup, Scoundrels and The Gates.  Scoundrels I didn’t get into.. but The Gates – oh, I LOVE The Gates.

Sadly, ABC chose to AGAIN pitch against its genre.  I was immediately turned off last year when they premiered Defying Gravity as Grey’s Anatomy in space.  I do not watch Grey’s Anatomy.  Don’t care for it or its type.  But I DO like scifi and guess what .. that’s what Defying Gravity was – despite the fact that once you watched it, it clearly WAS scifi down to an alien on the ship.  Only toward the end did they even hint at such a thing.  (And I’ve learned that it’s common for scifi fans like myself to NOT like soaps like Grey’s.)

On to The Gates – hey.. it’s Desperate Housewives with a very downplayed supernatural emphasis… that’s what they’re advertising it as, which also immediately turned me off.  I admit to watching and enjoying Desperate Housewives for the first season and a half and then losing interest as it, so I gave it a try because hey, it was VERY obvious that there was at least a vampire in it from the commercials and looking at the gate, you see a very obvious wolf and a witch.  The commercials are so BADLY done.  They need to just say it.

First of all, you have the vampire couple, Rhona Mitra is wonderful as a vampire. :D   She’s a bit more typical of the blood is an addictive drug type – and honestly, I was sold on the series after reading an interview with her that went in depth on her and her husband who turned her and does not have the same issue .. and their adopted little girl who has no idea they’re vampires.

Second, you have a pack of werewolves.. a good number of them too with a lot of them being teenagers. :D   Oh, I LIKE the werewolves because they’re a pack and you have one who’s trying to be good and fit in more with humans while being lured to do what teenagers and apparently, teen werewolves like to do, which is run around wildly.  I like him.  Everything about them is very wolflike – down to their relationships.  :D

Third, the new sheriff – I think… moves here with his son and daughter, the son immediately falls for the girl who the teen werewolf is dating and you get a nice amount of conflict without going overboard.  The characters are pretty much all likeable and well thought out.  Obviously .. there’s a body that pops up with a mystery about where it came from that the sheriff is investigating.

Fourth, oh.. the girl who’s a succubus who has no idea she’s a succubus. :D   I don’t know why, but that whole storyline is really intriguing me.  Her mother is dead, she has no idea she’s a succubus, but her father does. :D   I so want to know how it’s going to play out and how exactly that all happened!  She’s a danger to people who get close to her, I’m assuming a bit Rogue-style, although it hasn’t been shown yet since she’s just now coming into it.

Fifth, there’s a very nice good witch who’s a doctor and genuinely cares for people and the community vs a very bad .. bad witch who’s manipulating people (including the female vampire who so desperately wants to put a curb on her appetite for blood).  Oh, she’s creepy evil.

That’s from the first two episodes, which are available for online free viewing on ABC’s website.

I enjoy it … because I REALLY enjoy vampires and werewolves .. but I really am not all that fond of the sappiness that is Twilight or the overboardness of True Blood.  (I really don’t want to watch True Blood anymore. :D )  While Vampire Diaries is close, it also veers a bit too much into the Twilight area and isn’t on at a convenient time to watch it. :D   So I have The Gates – which I consider PERFECT.  I mean, it’d fit right in there with Supernatural – although not as dark.  Give it a try.  Pleeeease?  I really want it to stick around and I believe I have about 10,000 of you I can show this too!
